A new EMMY® Nomination for Bear McCreary’s ‘BLACK SAILS’

Composer Bear McCreary earned his third EMMY nomination this morning for Main Titles Theme for STARZ’s BLACK SAILS. McCreary won the EMMY Award in the same category last year for DA VINCI’S DEMONS.

“I knew when I had the chance to team up once again with showrunner Jonathan E. Steinberg and the supportive team at STARZ that they would push me to write something unusual for this unique pirate drama. When I dusted off my hurdy gurdy and started writing a heavy metal sea shanty, I never imagined that one day it would be nominated for an Emmy! I am thrilled and grateful for this recognition, and to be in such stellar company as my fellow nominees,” said McCreary. Continue reading “A new EMMY® Nomination for Bear McCreary’s ‘BLACK SAILS’”

KEVIN KLIESCH SCORES FIRST DAYTIME EMMY® NOMINATION FOR ‘SOFIA THE FIRST’

Primetime Special SOFIA THE FIRST: THE FLOATING PALACE Would Qualify for Primetime EMMY Consideration

(May 22, 2014– Los Angeles, CA) – Composer Kevin Kliesch (THUNDERCATS, SUPERMAN: UNBOUND) has earned his first EMMY® nomination for his work on the hit Disney Junior series SOFIA THE FIRST.

“Once I found out I had been nominated from the show’s creator, Craig Gerber, I immediately woke up my wife and told her the good news. We were both shaking with excitement!” said Kliesch. “It was such an honor to hear that the Academy thought my music for SOFIA THE FIRST was award-worthy.”

Though primarily a daytime show, airing 9:30AM on Fridays, a SOFIA THE FIRST primetime special, The Floating Palace aired last year. Which means, though improbable, Kliesch could potentially be recognized with a primetime EMMY nomination later this year for the same show – a highly unusual occurrence in the music categories.
