(January 11, 2019– Los Angeles, CA) – Varèse Sarabande Records announces TODAY’S release of THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN: PART 2 – Official Motion Picture Soundtrack with original music of composer Lee Holdridge (SPLASH, FLASHDANCE, MR. MOM). The CD premiere of this passionate score features a beautiful love theme, which is heard in variations throughout the album, as well as in two songs sung by Merrily Webber (arranged by the composer). After years of fan requests, Varese releases a limited edition of 1,500 copies.
Hit sequel to the acclaimed 1975 box office success, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN: PART 2 picks up the story of national slalom champion, Jill Kinmont, several years after the death of her beloved Dick “Mad Dog” Buek. Jill and her mother leave Los Angeles to spend their summer in their hometown of Bishop, California. They rent a summer house from a handsome truck driver named John Boothe. Jill is instantly captivated by John, but denies it to everyone, including herself. Eventually, Jill and John fall in love, but deep fears and hurts from the past threaten.

Lee Holdridge has scored numerous film and T.V. hits including SPLASH, BIG BUSINESS, MR. In addition to his film career, Mr. Holdridge has had an extensive repertoire of concert works performed and recorded including The Golden Land, the Jefferson Tribute, his Concerto # 2 For Violin And Orchestra, his suite from the opera Lazarus And His Beloved, the orchestral suite Scenes Of Summer as well as the Concerto For Viola And Chamber Orchestra, the Concertino For Violoncello And Strings, the Serenade For Oboe And Strings, the Fantasy Sonata For Violoncello and Piano, the Elegy For Strings and Harp, Serenade for Friends, Romanza for Guitar and Orchestra and Song and Variation for Violoncello and Piano.
Holdridge’s first full length opera Dulce Rosa, based on an Isabel Allende short story with a libretto by Richard Sparks, was premiered by The Los Angeles Opera in 2013 with Placido Domingo conducting. More recently it received the South American premiere in Montevideo, Uruguay, performed in Spanish with Ariel Britos conducting.
