Oscar-winning composer and Nine Inch Nail co-founder Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Love & Mercy,The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) has co-scored with Claudia Sarne, Leopold Ross, and Bobby Krlic the new John Hillcoat (Lawless, The Road, The Proposition) crime thriller, Triple 9. Ross is one of the most versatile composers today, and on this score he incorporated new electronic sounds, loops, and synths giving each track a distinct intensity not seen in traditional film scores.
A special remix by Atticus Ross of Cypress Hill’s classic 1991 ode to police corruption“Pigs” is also included on the soundtrack and can be heard in the Red Band trailer which is trending. The remix itself underscores the drugs, guns, nudity, and extreme violence in the trailer which has given a raw and new truth to a song that was a big hit in the early 90’s.The remix by Atticus Ross further intensifies the importance of the song’s original message against police corruption. Ross is also donating all his profits from the song to the National Urban League, which advocates on behalf of African Americans and racial discrimination in the United States.
Triple 9 opened in theaters yesterday February 26th and the soundtrack was released through BFD / Sony RED Distribution and Atlantic Screen Music / Filmtrax.
