James Horner Scores ‘FOR GREATER GLORY’

For Greater Glory- The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Available on Varese Sarabande

(West Hollywood, CA) December 5, 2012— Two- time Oscar® winning composer James Horner scores For Greater Glory. In the action epic, an impassioned group of men and women each make the decision to risk it all for family, faith and the very future of their country, as the film’s adventure unfolds against the long-hidden, true story of the 1920s Cristero War — the daring people’s revolt that rocked 20th Century North America. Academy Award® nominee Andy Garcia headlines an acclaimed cast as General Gorostieta, the retired military man who at first thinks he has nothing personal at stake as he and his wife, Golden Globe nominee Eva Longoria watch Mexico fall into a violent civil war. Other cast members include Oscar®-nominated Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full Of Grace), Peter O’Toole, and Oscar Issac (Drive).
Directed by Dean Wright and written by Michael Love, Horner incorporated a 100 piece orchestra and choir for his thrilling expansive original score and wrote music and lyrics for an original song, “Jose’s Martyrdom.” The song was performed live with a full orchestra and choir at the International Film Music Festival in Cordoba, Spain this past summer under the direction of three-time Emmy nominated composer Blake Neely. For Greater Glory – The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is available now on Varese Sarabande Records.
With over 75 credits to his name, James Horner’s impressive list of credits include the epic love story Titanic, the warfare tale of Avatar, and the birth of a super hero in The Amazing Spider-Man. Horner is a two-time Academy® award winning composer; he won Best Original Score for Titanic and Best Original Song “My Heart Will Go On” sung by Celine Dion from Titanic. Horner’s other credits include Brave Heart, A Beautiful Mind, and House of Sand and Fog. Horner frequently collaborates with directors Ron Howard and James Cameron.
