San Francisco, CA (March 23, 2011) – Six of the top composers in film, television and video games are slated to speak for the program, Behind the Music with CW3PR: Composing for Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy Film &TV at San Francisco’s WonderCon entertainment convention. The discussion will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1in Moscone Center’s Room 104.
Bryan Fuller, creator of ABC’s “Pushing Daisies,” and a producer of NBC’s “Heroes,” will moderate the panel; among those slatedto appear are Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Last Exorcism), Marco Beltrami (V, Scream 4), Sean Callery (24), Jim Dooley (Pushing Daisies), Scott Starrett (The Event), and Michael Suby (The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars).
Allof the composers will share their respective projects, discuss the pivotalrelationship between director and composer, and reveal how they got their bigbreak in the music composing industry, with a fan-led Q&A to follow. Attendees will receive exclusive giveaways and be the first to view (andhear) some surprise sneak-peaks from upcoming projects. Nathan Barr has come a long way since working as an assistant toworld-renowned composer Hans Zimmer. Barr has since composed original music forfilm and television. Film credits include: “The Ledge,” “The Last Exorcism” and “Open House.” He wasrecently tapped to score “30 Minutes Or Less,” a movie directed by Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland”). Barr has also written and performedthe music for all four seasons of HBO’s “True Blood.”
Marco Beltrami is a film and television composer who reunited with WesCraven to create the original music for the highly anticipated “Scream4,” set to release April 15, 2011. Beltrami is also composing music forABC’s highly acclaimed television series, “V,” now in itssecond season. Other film and TV credits include: “Scream,”“Scream 2,” Scream 3,” “The Hurt Locker,”“3:10 to Yuma,” Guillermo del Toro’s “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” (releasing August 12th, 2011), and “The Practice.”
Sean Callery is anaward-winning composer best known for his work on “24” and “24: Redemption.” For his work on the popular FOX series, Calleryreceived three Emmys for Outstanding Music Composition For a Series (Dramatic Underscore) in 2003, 2006 and 2010. He’s also created original scores for“Medium” and “Bones,” both for NBC.
Jim Dooley is an Emmy-winning composer well known in film, television and video game circles. Credits include: “The Da Vinci Code,”“Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Obsessed,” “Pushing Daisies” and Disney’s “Epic Mickey.” He recently finished the score to “Carmel,” an independent film starring Hayden Panettiere, Lauren Bacall and Josh Hutcherson. Dooley also completed the original music for the animated feature film “Dorothy of Oz,” which is slated for a 2012 release. Additionally, his “Pushing Daisies: SeasonTwo” soundtrack will be released on April 5, 2011.
Scott Starrett has composed original music for award-winning feature films and television. He is currently writing the original music for NBC’s“The Event,” and will return to score Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva,” this spring. Starrett’s other credits include:“The Hopeful,” “The City of Water,” the HBO feature“Dim Sum Funeral” and the Apollo astronaut feature documentary,“The Wonder of It All.”
Michael Suby’s work can currently be heard on “The Vampire Diaries,” and “Pretty Little Liars,” two popular series onthe CW and ABC Family, respectively. Meanwhile, Suby has also scored music forABC Family’s “Kyle XY,” Adult Swim’s “Robot Chicken,” E!’s “Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami,” and Lifetime’s “Project Runway.” For film, his credits include: “Home of the Giants,” “The Butterfly Effect,” and “The Butterfly Effect 2.”
Bryan Fuller is a screenwriter, television producer and all around sci-fi fan. Over the years, he wrote for “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,”“Star Trek: Voyager,” and co-executive produced and wrote forNBC’s “Heroes.” Fuller has also created the series,“Dead Like Me,” and the critically acclaimed “Pushing Daisies,” a winner of seven Emmy awards. Fuller is currently under a deal with NBC Universal to develop pilots for NBC, as well as USA and the SyFy Channel. Additionally, he is writing a live-action feature version of “Pinocchio” for Warner Bros.
WonderCon is an annualcomic book, science fiction, and motion picture convention run by the creators of Comic-Con International and held in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1987.
