(Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release Michael Wandmacher’s Piranha 3D — Original Score, available digitally on August 10th and in stores on August 17, 2010. The film was directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) and features original music composed by Michael Wandmacher (Punisher: War Zone, My Bloody Valentine).

Composer Michael Wandmacher has built a solid reputation for his highly textured, definitive and meticulously produced scores. Wandmacher’s feature films scoring credits include My Bloody Valentine 3-D, Punisher: War Zone, Freakonomics, Never Back Down, The Killing Floor, Cry Wolf, Train, Max Keeble’s Big Move and The Legend Of Drunken Master for director Jackie Chan, television series, TV movies, including Ben 10: Alien Swarm, and videogames including Singularity, Madagascar, Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa and Over The Hedge.

“There were two priorities for the score,” described Wandmacher. “One was to find a central theme and motif for the piranha and the other was to capture the utter chaos that the fish bring to the screen. In addition to a large orchestra, heavily layered electric guitars, electric cello, bowed piano and rock percussion were used in combination with custom signature electronic sounds created specifically for the film.”

A deep knowledge of orchestral, ethnic and all forms of electronic and ambient genres made Wandmacher an ideal choice for realizing the most eclectic musical tastes; he possesses the ability to seamlessly blend symphonic music with cutting-edge electronica, rock and hip hop. In addition to scoring films, Wandmacher is often called upon to write songs for feature films and collaborate with major artists, including Kelly Clarkson.

“Working with Alex Aja,” said Wandmacher, “has been a tremendously rewarding experience. His imagination has no limits when it comes to music.”
